What is Gait Deficit?

When used in conjunction with rehabilitative exercises, the PoNS™ device treats gait deficit due to mild and moderate symptoms from MS.

Difficulty walking, or gait deficit, is one of the most common mobility limitations in MS. Approximately 50-80% of people with MS have a gait deficit. Gait deficit from MS can be caused by many factors, including muscle weakness, spasticity, balance and coordination problems, fatigue and pain.

What are common signs of gait deficit?

  • Difficulty walking
  • Unsteadiness
  • Needing support to walk
  • Weakness in legs
  • Prone to falls

If you have been diagnosed with MS and experience the above symptoms, you may have a gait deficit and PoNS™ may be right for you.
